about All in One Night
In December 2019, I was a broke restaurant host living in New York City, away from my friends and family for the first time. I needed something to connect me with home on Christmas Eve, so I bought a beautiful red copy of A Christmas Carol, rigged up a red bedsheet and a string of multicolored lights, and read the book front-to-back with three original songs on livestream. Character voices and all. (Of course I thought it would take around two hours and it took five, but that meant I got to finish it Christmas morning.) Lots of people loved it!
In the months that followed, I expanded the song list to thirteen, moved back home when the pandemic hit, and made plans to continue the show that year. I made it a charity fundraiser, responding to issues that affected my Los Angeles community and doing a little good like I believe Dickens calls us to.
